Project: Full-surface wall coverings in a private mansion in Lübbecke / North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

The building owners required materials for a wall cladding with a high grade of innovation and a strong cultural reference at the same time. These should be aesthetically valuable and come from economically, ecologically and socially sustainable production. The wallcovering should, if possible, be made to measure and come in piece. Therefore, they decided on the BARKTEX® variant Patchwork_tradition_0188, which has been recognized by NASA as one of the top 10 material innovations worldwide.

Each BARKTEX® patchwork is designed and manufactured without a repeat/recurring pattern and without the aid of templates or similar aids => guaranteed unique items.

Very large sizes can also be produced. Up to 5 x 25 meters (!) and more is possible. For example, all walls of a room can be covered with one single patchwork wallcovering and processed over the edges and corners. You have to come up with this idea first!

The mega patchwork with a size of 290 x 720 cm found its place in the living room. To learn it, we had already made much larger formats. To date, however, this is the largest tree bark fleece in the world that has been produced commercially. Enormous tensile forces arise during its manufacture, so that the ornate hand seams have to be mended here and there during the manufacturing process. The installation on the wall also requires some experience, any necessary repairs are carried out ad hoc on site.

Smaller patchworks were also made for the fireplace room for the purpose of combining it with a leather wall. In the entrance area, however, the more reticent BARK CLOTH_tradition_0131 was used.
